As fall moves to winter, it’s time for the craft brewers to bring out their seasonal ales. From big hearty stouts to spicy hop mixes, winter sees some serious beers make their way to the tap.
The aptly-named Winter Ale from Ontario-based Great Lakes Brewery is no exception.
Offering a delicious mix of spices that include cinnamon and ginger, this beer offers a kick to the teeth of the cold weather outside.
Its tanginess stays with you long after the first sip, and a cascade of flavours hit you with every sip (as I share in the video below).
Great Lakes Brewery themselves say this beer is inspired by “…the long, cold, and seemingly endless Canadian winter..”, and if you’ve ever spent anytime in Canada during the winter months, you’ll know what they mean!
At 6.2% ABV, this has enough strength in it to give you a nice buzz afterward – or, maybe that’s the ginger! Either way, this is a great beer from a great brewer.
