The 11th Annual GREAT BEER EXPO returned to The Navy Yard on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The event will included local favorites, newcomers, and an impressive collection of unique beers and collabs. What a fun way to kick off Philly Beer Week!
The producers of the award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival (repeatedly voted as one of the “Top Ten Beer Festivals in America”), Starfish Productions, brought us yet another winning event. Beer and fun were had by all, and it was an absolutely gorgeous day for it.
Never a complaint from me with sliders from Stuff’d Buns. Perfectly paired with the first of my highlights: Erotolupulinomania.
Tuned Up are one of my favorite Hazy IPA brewers, hands down, and it’s all because of two beers, Erotolupulinomania and Erotolupulinophobia. Mania is packed full of Eukanaut and El Dorado hops, bold, hazy, fruity goodness.
Long Ireland Beer Company
20 Minutes of Agony
Golden amber. Just the slightest hint of hazing, and a strong white head of foam. Notes of lemon, orange, and grapefruit. Smooth with a bitter finish. Give it a go!
Evil Genius Brewing Company
Another golden-amber beer with slight haze (okay, maybe I have a type?). Very light citrus aroma. Perfectly balanced beer for the IPA fans and non-fans alike. Not too bitter, the citrus isn’t in your face. Incredibly drinkable, as are most beers from Evil Genius Brewing Company.
Great Barn Brewing Company
Strawberry Fennel Hefeweizen
Just had another of these after the event and I have to say I am still pleasantly surprised by this every time I pick it up. Outside of my wheelhouse, but I do not mind. Brewed with fennel and strawberry seeds for a not-too-sweet, fruity herbal hefeweizen.
